The Process
I press my flowers using the traditional flower pressing method: in a wooden press for 6-8 weeks. The first week involves changing paper daily to soak up as much moisture as possible to avoid browning. Sometimes browning does occur or changes to the original color while in the press. Colors of the flowers will fade over time as well. But these are natural changes that I find beautiful and true to life. Flowers will need to be dropped off or picked up as soon as possible to maintain freshness and achieve the best press. This will be discussed and arranged ahead of time.
The Art
Once the flowers come out of the press, the fun continues! Arranging the flowers on the paper is done thoughtfully and meticulously. I generally deconstruct the flowers in order to get the best press and also to fill the space with a variety of botanical elements (flowers, stems, leaves, and buds). I do not attempt to reconstruct the bouquet, rather I deconstruct it to portray it in a new light.
The Framing
The framing is left to the professionals at Anthology Fine Art. You choose between 3 wood color options. Each piece is framed with museum-quality glass.
